Spearheaded by two powerhouse performances from Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne and Alicia Vikander, "The Danish Girl" is a luscious and gorgeously crafted piece, invigorating the soul with its conveying message of freedom and love.</span><br />

<span itemprop="review" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Review">As polarizing as Tom Hooper has been in his choices to shoot and frame his films like "The King's Speech" and "Les Miserables," two films that are still delightfully poignant years after, "The Danish Girl" is by far his most alluring film to date. Cinematographer Danny Cohen truly hits his stride from the opening frames, as he calls back to Dick Pope's work in last year's "Mr. Turner," but allows a story fragrantly moving to become his blank canvas in which to respectfully capture the film's most sentimental moments. If you're searching for the "Hooper-isms" like people shoved into the corner of a scene or extreme close-ups, you'll find them, but there's a resourceful way in which he's utilizing his tactics that feel genuine and necessary.</span><br />

<span itemprop="review" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Review">Last year Eddie Redmayne won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in James Marsh's "The Theory of Everything," beating out some big names. A performance I quite liked but didn't fully understand the gravitation over other names throughout the year. As Lili Elbe, Redmayne ignites his most daring and captivating turn of his career. Visually married to the woman in dedication to the role, he allows 'Lili' to wash over him both with aggression and delicacy. It's a near masterpiece performance that I'll remember for years to come.</span><br />

<span itemprop="review" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Review">Equally compelling, and even more magnificent in her turn is Alicia Vikander, who in just under two hours, solidifies herself as one of the most breathtaking and exciting actresses working today. Vikander's subtlety and interpretation of 'Gerda', is a sensational vessel of complexity and honesty, as she runs the gauntlet of a woman desperate to understand and struggling to hold it together. As the tears well up in her eyes, and she desperately asks Lili to have 'Einar' hold her, it's the single most heart wrenching scene this year. It's the strongest and most compulsory turn by an actress this year, and one that will have the Academy Awards running to check off for a nomination.</span><br />

While she successfully captures the spirit and tone of Lili's struggle through her life, her inserted beats of on-the-nose dialogue can be trying at times. Having Gerda say things like "I felt like I was kissing myself" when recalling her and her husband's first kiss, was a little over-the-top in an attempt at foreshadowing. However, she delightfully captures the humble beginnings of their marriage, with the secret that plagues their union with accuracy.</span><br />

I believe its one of his most profound works to date. Same can be said for Production Designer Eve Stewart and Costume Designer Paco Delgado, who both capture the essence of European history with accuracy and vitality.</span><br />

<span itemprop="review" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Review">"The Danish Girl" is a seducing feature with fortitude and grace, all of which measures up to heroic story of being yourself, no matter what the circumstances. Tom Hooper's direction, along with Redmayne and Vikander's work will likely be at the top of Oscar's to-do list for the awards season.</span></div>

<span itemprop="review" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Review">Let me start by saying that I regard Terrence Malick as the sole currently working director who can be spoken of with the same reverence as that for the great early masters of cinema – Welles, Chaplin, Hitchcock, Renoir (make your own list). Since 'The Tree of Life' - even since 'The New World', I have thought of him as the saviour of modern cinema from the slurry of bland naturalism.</span><br />
<span itemprop="review" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Review"><br /></span>
<span itemprop="review" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Review">But the enormous stylistic advances in cinematic expression that have characterised his recent works have come at a price, and the price is clarity of vision. We do not necessarily need to *know* what his images represent, but we need to *feel* it. Occasionally in 'The Tree of Life', frequently in 'To the WONDER' and most of the time in 'Knight of Cups' most people would, I suspect, be at a loss to rationally explain the relevance of much of Malick's visual expression. (They don't always 'feel' right, either.)</span><br />
<span itemprop="review" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Review"><br /></span>
<span itemprop="review" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Review">So (after three viewings) I offer my 'guide' to this enigmatic film. The 'story' (no story) of 'Knight of Cups' is that of a 'celebrity' Rick (Christian Bale) on the loose in Hollywood, who has lost his moral compass and lives a life of total debauchery drifting from one soulless sexual encounter to another in between failed relationships.</span><br />
<span itemprop="review" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Review"><br /></span>
<span itemprop="review" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Review">This is represented in a kaleidoscopic torrent of imagery reminiscent of the works of Bruce Connor in the 1960s. Bale does the best he can with the central role of Rick, a 'celebrity' in Hollywood, but, like Sean Penn in 'The Tree of Life', he has really drawn the short straw, as he, like Ben Affleck, Penn and Richard Gere before him tries to wordlessly express his response to ambiguous emotional and moral situations.</span><br />
<span itemprop="review" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Review"><br /></span>
<span itemprop="review" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Review">Malick, to his credit, tells us what the film is about in an opening voice-over, which recounts a story ('Hymn of the Pearl') from Acts of Thomas in the Apocrypha. A king sends his son to search for a pearl in a foreign land. The pearl is to be found in the sea, protected by a hissing serpent, but the prince is seduced by the inhabitants of the foreign country and given a sleeping draft. After he awakes, he has forgotten not only what he came for, but even that he is a prince.</span><br />
<span itemprop="review" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Review"><br /></span>
<span itemprop="review" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Review">Much of the first half of the film memorably (but not graphically) depicts the life of total decadence that Rick finds in Tinseltown. But this is interspersed with encounters – real or imagined, present or past – with people from his former life – wife, brother, father.</span><br />
<span itemprop="review" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Review"><br /></span>
<span itemprop="review" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Review">The term 'emotional roller coaster' is often inappropriately used, but here it is very precisely apt, as one has the sense of Rick being propelled down paths he'd rather not take by external forces over which he has lost control. But, for me, at least, this section is too long and suffers from overkill, in the 'when you've seen one, you've seen 'em all' sense.</span><br />
<span itemprop="review" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Review"><br /></span>
<span itemprop="review" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Review">The rest of the film follows Rick in his attempts to make sense of his life and find 'the pearl', and, to be fair, the film does give the sense of an inexorable move in this direction which aids dramatic tension and gives clarity in some measure. As in 'To the WONDER', with the story of the crisis of faith of the priest, here also there are tangential sections in which compassion is seen as the alter ego of passion, and the place of young children adds positive emotion to an otherwise extremely bleak, if dazzlingly beautiful work.</span><br />
<span itemprop="review" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Review"><br /></span>
<span itemprop="review" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Review">Yes, Malick's unique visual lyricism is frequently on display, but, I would have to say that it seems less well integrated into the work's thematic thrust than it is in other of his films, but I could be mistaken here and I will be wanting to see it at least four or five more times when it opens in France in a couple of months.</span><br />
<span itemprop="review" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Review"><br /></span>
<span itemprop="review" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Review">Visually it is, from time to time, spectacular; sometimes Malick's montages are breathtaking, but there are great mysteries here that I have not come near to fathoming even after three viewings. Frequent shots of high-flying passenger jets, fast-moving shots from the front of a car on desert roads and long-held bleak landscapes from Death Valley and environs punctuate the film. It is not difficult to see the 'meaning' that these images carry, but it is difficult to know why they are repeated so often.</span><br />
<span itemprop="review" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Review"><br /></span>
<span itemprop="review" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Review">If I sound disappointed, I have not deceived, but Malick, with his entire work, has set the bar so high that anything not bordering on masterpiece simply has to be a disappointment. I drove a thousand kilometres to see this film and back again, and I do not regret the time and effort, but this is a desperately difficult work to fathom and, frankly, for me, makes 'To the WONDER' look like a model of clarity.</span><br />

definitely stands out from a lot of the stuff that we see on TV. First 
of all, practically all of the characters are hard to like, but to some 
degree it adds to the humor. Scream Queens definitely has a lot of 
different layers and it pays tribute to old school slasher movies and 
even college comedies. You have the typical stuck up sorority president,
 the college dean that is out to get them, and the underdog pledges who 
really shouldn't be trying to get into the sorority in the first place. 
And yet, it takes all of these things and adds some fun twists! I love 
Lea Michele's character who is not that innocent and very weird. In 
fact, each of the characters have secrets and darkness to them which 
keeps you guessing on trying to figure out who the killer is. I will 
definitely keep coming back to try to uncover all the mysteries going 
on. Can't wait for more!</span></div>

talking about making a trip to Nepal, there are still many ways to 
interpret your request besides seeing the 2015 docudrama. The world's 
tallest mountain is the center of the story in a 1998 documentary, a 
2007 TV mini-series, a 2014-2015 TV series and another film project 
still in development. All of these treatments are simply titled, 
"Everest". More to the point, 2015's "Everest" (PG-13, 2:01) re-tells 
the specific story from the '98 doc and a 1997 TV movie ("Into Thin Air:
 Death on Everest"), but tells it more vividly than ever before.</span><br />

 '97, '98 and 2015 films all take us along for doomed expeditions up the

screenplay of 2015's "Everest". As the film tells us early on, by the 
late 1980s, climbing Everest had transitioned from the domain of 
adventurers like George Mallory and Edmund Hillary with minimal 
equipment to a tourist destination for thrill-seekers with little 
climbing experience, but enough money to buy state-of-the-art equipment,
 stay in established base camps, and hire local Sherpas as guides and, 
in some cases, to carry the climber's gear and cook meals. But as the 
films about the 1996 climbs (and subsequent major avalanches) have 
shown, no amount of money, gear, help or even experience can insulate 
anyone from the dangers inherent in this climb. "The last word," as one 
character in the 2015 film says, "always belongs to the mountain." 
"Everest" follows two of the expeditions which suffered tragic losses on
 the mountain on May 10-11, 1996. Rival expedition leaders Rob Hall 
(Jason Clarke), of the company Adventure Consultants, and Scott Fischer 
(Jake Gyllenhaal), of Mountain Madness, decide to work together due to 
the large number of people trying to reach the peak on May 10th. The 
main focus of the story is Hall's team, which includes people with a 
wide range of personal backgrounds. Hall is an experienced New Zealand 
mountaineer who has already climbed to the top of Everest four times, 
including once with his wife, Jan (Keira Knightley), who has stayed in 
New Zealand this time due to her pregnancy. Doug Hansen (John Hawkes) is
 a mailman who attempted Everest once before and wants to reach the 
summit as a way of inspiring schoolchildren back home in Washington 
state. Yasuko Namba is a 47-year-old Japanese woman who has already 
climbed the other six of the famed Seven Summits and wants to become the
 oldest woman to reach the top of Everest. Beck Weathers (Josh Brolin) 
is an adventurous Texan who is also pursuing the goal of the Seven 
Summits, but has lied to his wife, Peach (Robin Wright), about his

want to go and see this movie especially because I saw the first part 
and while I was watching it I was really interested in knowing why they 
were tested in the maze or who Thomas and Teresa were, what they did 
before they were cast out into the maze, etc... but unfortunately I got 
none of this answers, but what I did get were a lot more mysteries but 
no answers, but it's not like LOST where it leaves the audience thinking
 and putting things together and finding out the mysteries, but it's 
more of a dull and predictable mysteries every time they have some of 
the main characters talk to each other.</span><br />

more mysteries and making you more interested in seeing the final 
conclusion than actually put some sense into this chapter... </span><br />

some people who want to go see this movie hoping it's a good one. More, 
it seems like every time there is a dialog that can reveal key plot 
points or mysteries, or memories, is cut short and the subject quickly 
changes to something else, and it gets really frustrating, I was 
laughing as hard as I could with my friend in the cinema, while watching
 things like that or glass that breaks, then suddenly not breaks, then 
finally breaks, it's like the glass listens to the movie script, just

feels ridiculously stupid about running in every scene of the movie. All
 the conflicts or natural disasters end up with the Young Adults running

disasters are chasing the kids. At this point I was having 0 
expectations from the movie, and it didn't surprised me after that, 
being only more cliché-d and predictable, not even zombie's scares

review, don't go and see this movie, unless you are bored to death and 
want to have some fun and laugh at how bad this movie really is. By the 
way, the movie's rating is way too high, this shows just how easily 
people are fooled and how easily their money are wasted on things like 
this. This movie's real rating should be around 5-6, but until it gets 
there(which probably won't happen) I stick with 1.</span></div>

Storyline</h2>
John Connolly and James "Whitey" Bulger grew up together on the streets 
of South Boston. Decades later, in the late 1970s, they would meet 
again. By then, Connolly was a major figure in the FBI's Boston office 
and Whitey had become godfather of the Irish Mob. What happened between 
them - a dirty deal to trade secrets and take down Boston's Italian 
Mafia in the process - would spiral out of control, leading to murders, 
drug dealing, racketeering indictments, and, ultimately, to Bulger 
making the FBI's Ten Most Wanted List.<br />

was. And I want to prefice this by saying I love crime films and have 
seen the greats such as Goodfellas, the Godfather, and The Departed but 
this was just drivel. </span><br />

plays Boston crime lord James "Whitey" Bulger and reveals virtually 
nothing about the character he plays aside from the violent actions he 
portrays. The supporting cast does nothing to make this a compelling 
story either with the exception of Joel Edgerton's John Connolly as a 
street-wise kid turned FBI agent loyal to Bulger's cause. </span><br />
<span itemprop="review" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Review"><br /></span>
<span itemprop="review" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Review">The 
pacing and dialogue are also the biggest culprits here. The film 
develops slowly leaving the watcher wondering if it will ever pick up to
 an emotional crescendo with only to find out the ride is as monotonous 
as your daily drive. Moreover, the dialogue feels like students taking 
turns reading out of a textbook. I know that the film is a biographic 
one but there's no need to have it feel as though you're reading a 
Wikipedia article. </span><br />

 the uneasy feel of the movie but only works to put the viewer to sleep 
with its two tone rise and fall. None of the cinematography and shots of
 the scenes work to create anything worth capturing attention. There are
 shots of Southie that do convey the bleak outlook of Bulger's turf but 
they are few and far between as the film mostly focuses on the boring 
and uninspired dialogue and setting the actors are captured in such as 
living rooms, offices, dark bars, and car interiors. </span><br />

done much with his life. In a temp job, he runs into an old band mate,

deepest recesses of his brain (makes him really, really smart). The plot
 follows him as he is chased by the FBI who want him for murder, while 
he tries to clear his name.</span><br />

show that we haven't seen in other shows in the crime procedural genre, 
but it works. The acting is good. The pacing is good. The possibilities 
are there for some twists. It sets up a good overarching mystery. 
Overall, if you like TV dramas like Mentalist and Chuck then you'll like
 this show.</span><br />
