Stood outside of the cinema I had to make a decision whether to watch this or the maze runner:scorch trails and I made the right decision.

First of all Matt Damon gave a stellar performance and was perfect for the role. He really made you feel for him and want him to survive. He does a great job of keeping you entertained even when he is by himself. This is where the directing skills of Ridley Scott comes in. He makes it so Matt Damon character is indirectly talking to the audience while he is talking to the cameras in the base.

The cinematography in this film is also brilliant. I especially liked the angles created by the small camera/Go Pro on all the astronauts suits.

Ridley Scott does a very good job of making mars look exiting and extremely cool place. As a very vast and desolate place making it interesting was very difficult task and Ridley Scott delivered.

The supporting cast in this film really adds to its overall enjoyability. Most of the best of the supporting cast are on earth at NASA. Jeff Daniels and Sean Bean where both every good in there roles and the dynamic between the two was really interesting. Chiwetel Ejiofor was all so very good and really showed his acting ability.

The film also supplies some comic relief. This usually come in the videos Matt Damon is recording and the conversations between him and the crew.

To sum up this is a powerful, gritty and at times funny tale of human survival.

I really enjoyed the film and would recommend it to anyone looking for a tremendous feat in film and by far one of the best films I've seen this year!
